As an independent bookstore that opened in a recession and the dawn of the ebook, we are thriving. Pudd'nhead Books has increased sales at least 25% a year since we've opened, and we're spending less than we make.
The thing is, we could do so much more. We could stock more books in the shop, we could do more events and have more booksellers to help more customers. Now that we're moving to a bigger space, we need more inventory. Plus, moving isn't free. And Melissa really, really deserves a raise.
So we've started a community lender program to raise the funds to expand. Basically, anyone who wants to be a lender can choose the amount they'd like to loan us for a 5 year period, at 4% interest, with quarterly payments. Community Lenders over the $1,000 mark also receive a 30% discount on all purchases at Pudd'nhead Books for the life of the loan.
Yes, you can earn more than 4% just about anywhere. But where else can you see the benefits of your investment, right in your own neighborhood?
