It started because Subterranean Books said they were struggling. Losing another independent bookstore is bad news for all of us, so the other indies circled the wagons and offered their help. Then Borders declared bankruptcy, and lots of people started carrying around their books on electronic screens. 

So we rallied. We created a website - stlindiebook.com - that has ALL the indie literary events in St. Louis. We throw great events that show St. Louis what our independent bookstores are capable of.
